COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Fortis is committed to maintaining a safe and health education and work environment free from discrimination or harassment based on age, 比赛, color, 性, 性别, 性ual orientation or identity , religion or creed, national or ethnic origin, or disability.

Fortis is also committed to providing support to those who may have been impacted by incidents of 性ual or 性别-based harassment or misconduct and may provide various resources and support services to individuals who have experienced one of these incidents. This website provides information on what to do if you or someone you know may have been impacted by any of these behaviors.

WHAT IS TITLE IX? 

第九条 of the Education Amendments 1972 (20 U.S.C. 1681 et seq.) and its implementing regulations, 34 C.F.R. 部分106, prohibit discrimination on the basis of 性 in education programs or activities operated by recipients of Federal financial assistance. 

第九条 states: No person in 美国nited States shall, on the basis of 性, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. 

Fair and equal treatment, in all aspects of higher education, is expected under the 第九条 regulations.  

TITLE IX POLICY

All students and employees are expected to comply with this 第九条 Policy and take appropriate measures to create an atmosphere free of harassment and discrimination. Any inquiries regarding 第九条 or the Institution’s 第九条 Policy and Procedures can be directed to the 第九条 Coordinator as provided below, 美国.S. Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights, or both.

WHO TO CONTACT? 

Any member of the Fortis community, 客人, or third party who has experienced or witnessed any form discrimination or harassment should report all misconduct to the designated 第九条 Coordinator:

WHY REPORT?

Reporting concerns of discrimination, 性ual harassment and 性ual misconduct will allow you to connect to resources and support, and if you choose, to explore your options for possible resolution.  

HOW TO MAKE A REPORT

There is no need to schedule an in-person appointment to make a report. The report can be verbal or written. Any person may report 性 discrimination or 性ual harassment at any time, including during non-business hours, by using the telephone number, regular mail, or e-mail address of the 第九条 Coordinator, or by meeting with or sending a written complaint to the 第九条 Coordinator, using the contact information above. 

也, our institution maintains an online reporting system to receive reports of civil rights violations, including reported incidents of 性ual violence and 性ual harassment.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE REPORT IS MADE

It is important to note that not all reports have to become or will become formal complaints. When a report is submitted, the 第九条 Coordinator will reach out to the impacted party and provide them with information about the supportive measures available, as well as options for resolution and next steps. We will make sure that you understand your options, and what happens next is up to you.
